London City Airport supports UK government’s ‘GREAT’ Campaign

London City Airport is supporting the UK Government’s 2012 ‘GREAT’ campaign to showcase all that is ‘GREAT’ about Britain to the millions of inbound passengers travelling into the UK from Europe and America.

The tourism campaign aims to highlight on areas of UK excellence including sport, shopping, innovation, technology, culture and heritage – all of which are relevant to London City Airport as the expansion of London moves east. Millions of inbound visitors will be hit with a series of campaign posters upon arrival into the capital, with the promotional activity extending to cover the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“The fact that London City Airport is the first UK airport to support the Government’s ‘GREAT’ campaign is no coincidence” said Richard Gooding, Chief Executive for London City Airport. “We offer an ideally located airport for visitors to London in 2012, being situated just three miles from the Olympic Park, and have continued to go from strength to strength as a vital airport of choice for millions of inbound passengers coming to London from European hubs, as well as New York City.”

London City Airport’s contribution supports the government's ‘GREAT’ campaign, which aims to give a £1 billion boost to business and will be launched across 17 key cities, including LA, Tokyo, Beijing and Sydney, with events including a show in Rio during which images of Britain will be beamed onto Sugarloaf Mountain. The government aims to deliver 4.6 million visitors to Britain over the next four years, generating tourist spending of £2.3 billion and creating almost 60,000 new job opportunities.
