Emirates to fly direct to Washington DC

America’s Capital will soon enjoy enhanced international connections through a non-stop link to Emirates’ global network, after the airline announced that it would start flights to Washington Dulles International Airport beginning on September 12.

Emirates is continuing to extend its European reach, with the commencement of daily services to Portugal as from 9 July. The Lisbon route will offer a three class service with First, Business and Economy cabins.

“Lisbon has been on our European wish-list for some time” explained Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airlines. “Our daily flights will link this far western corner of Europe with our strong route network, via Dubai, into Africa, across Asia and beyond. We will be the only carrier based in the Middle East operating into Portugal, bringing our refreshing approach to customer service, our dynamic and inspiring approach to business, along with superb value for money.”

Emirates has placed the single largest aircraft order, in dollar value, in Boeing’s history.

Emirates produced a net profit of US$ 925 million, for the first six months of its current financial year ending 30th September 2010. This represents an outstanding 351.2 percent increase compared to the same period in 2009.
