Asia-Pacific airlines show traffic and airfares on the rise
Airlines in the Asia-Pacific region are showing signs of recovery as reports show a strong rise in passenger traffic as well as small rises in airfares.
According to the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA), there was a rise of 16.9% in February passenger traffic compared to the same month in 2009. The AAPA’s statistics also showed a 14% gain in terms of revenue per passenger kilometre. Published airfares for the fourth quarter of 2009 showed a smaller rise, of 1% year-on-year, according to the American Express Business Travel Monitor.
